Healthy
Kitchen Appraisal & Makeover - $90 per hour
Often
the best way to begin a healthier eating plan
is to start with your kitchen! You may have
great goals about getting in shape, but if your
kitchen isn’t in shape first, you’re
in trouble. What staples are missing in your
fridge and pantry? What items do you need to
reconsider? The dietitian will come to your
home and assess the health status of your fridge
and pantry. You will then receive recommendations
for improvements based on your individual lifestyle
and nutrition goals. Together with a half-hour
nutrition consultation, this is an excellent
option if you’re concerned about cholesterol,
blood pressure, or blood sugar control.
Supermarket
Shopping Tour - $90 per hour
Tour
the supermarket of your choice with the dietitian
and a workbook designed to help you make smart
choices. Learn to identify the key parts of
a nutrition label and how each part may affect
your nutrition goals. The guided tour will be
focused on what you and the dietitian have identified
as top priority based on your nutrition needs.
At the end of your shopping trip, sit down with
the dietitian and review key concepts, ask questions,
and discuss any other concerns you may have.
About
the Dietitian
Adina
Pearson earned her Bachelor of Science degree
in Nutrition and Dietetics from Loma Linda University.
She is registered with the Commission on Dietetic
Registration (#940446) and is also a Certified
Dietitian in the State of Washington. Adina
also holds a Certificate of Training in Adult
Weight Management. But that's just the technical
stuff...
Adina
is passionate about good food and good
health and wants others to understand the impressive
role nutrition plays in their lives. She loves
to teach motivated people how they can make
strides to improve their health in practical,
everyday ways. This is why she created Eat Smart
Nutrition - to lead you and others toward a
healthier future through sound nutrition.
Philosophy
Food
should be enjoyed and a source of pleasure as
well as nourishment and fuel. You can't sacrifice
one for the other, but you need both. Eat Smart
Nutrition is not about get-thin-quick
diets. Following a rigid list of “good”
and “bad” foods doesn’t lead
to long term health, weight success, or sanity.
What
does work is learning how to use smart
nutrition principles to make healthy choices
daily—and NO that doesn’t mean giving
up bread, pasta or cake forever.
Life
is busy and time is short. For many of us, when
it comes to good nutrition, convenience is the
key. But a healthy, balanced diet is important
for everyone not just those with diabetes, high
cholesterol or extra weight. The goal of Eat
Smart Nutrition is to help you reach optimal
nutrition and eating pleasure—all within
the confines of your hectic schedule. We will
help you develop eating habits that will improve
your health and prevent nutrition-related illness
whether you need to gain weight, lose weight,
or stay the same. Because your health is about
more than just a number on the scale.
YOU
are more than the number on the scale. That
is why Adina will make sure any plan decided
on will fit your lifestyle. While you may need
to make some changes, she’ll make sure
your nutrition planning will not require you
to become a part-time chef (unless you want
to, of course). Adina is here to teach you how
to eat smarter in practical ways that fit your
life. Adina
will help you find the How-To’s of better
nutrition. You’ve got things to do. Eating
is one of them. Let Eat Smart Nutrition help
you to eat smart.
Why
See a Registered Dietitian?
Registered
dietitians are the food and nutrition experts
recognized by the health profession to be the
most qualified to answer nutrition questions
and offer nutrition counseling. A registered
dietitian has at least a 4-year college degree
in nutrition, has survived training
internships and has passed a rigorous
registration exam. Dietitians must also keep
up-to-date by accumulating 75 hours of continuing
education every 5 years in order to maintain
their registration status. On the other hand,
anyone can be called a "nutritionist"
as it does not require any credentials
or a degree. If you want sound nutrition advice
from a qualified professional, Eat Smart Nutrition
is the place for you.
